after an absence for almost 20 years, the worlds favorite lil' bug makes a grand come back with a modern new look, greater features, and cooler colors (no offense old bug lovers)!

With a starting price around $15,200 , the new Volkswagen beetle was first unveiled on 5th January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The first Volkswagen was the creation of Ferdinand Porsche in Stuttgart, Germany.

The Volkswagen beetle, unknown to many, is made into 2 different models- the American and the European ones. They may look like identical twins from afar. Yet when studied, many important details of the 2 models are different. Here are some of the more prominent ones: -

European & US Models

The main differences are the colors and appearance of certain features of the 2 models, which vary accordingly.

The VW logos, imprinted on the wheels, the front and rear of the vehicle, and embedded in the steering wheel, are blue and white on the European models, and in black and chrome on the American models. This, I guess, is the most distinct feature of all, mainly because it is  VERY noticeable  ...:Þ Hey, you'd be blind to miss it !

The European model has a different cloth interior, too!

This is a biggie which many people don't know about-The turn signal covers on the European model is made of CLEAR plastic, while the other model's turn signal covers are made of conventional , dull, monotonous ..... yellow. The bulb used is yellow though, to avoid other road users from mistaking it as some kinda fog light or whatever, as it may cause road accidents with many casualties as a penalty. Hey, if a crack side-window can cause an accidents, what's more with a with turn signal. Besides, white isn't clear and doesn't show on a hot, midsummer's afternoon, right?

This is the last point I got, and yeah, I found out that the UK models includes a rear red fog light, which I think is kinda cool. The UK model is also available with air- conditioning, which is standard (duh).

As I actually saw a new bug in front of my very own eyes, I can tell you that the car is a thumbs- up! It's round little body can catch anyone's eye from far. It even has a small vase for fresh flowers, which makes it the one and only car I've came across with a lil' vase in it!
